Swimming Success!

This past summer Grayson AND Molly got to take swim lessons at the local pool. Awwww. For the first time since Molly was born, I got to just sit and watch and chat it up with friends. There was no diaper bag, no stroller, no need for snacks, nothing. Blissful. So blissful and easy that we signed up for 2 rounds!

Round 1 was great. G FINALLY moved off the steps (where they put the beginners...and apparently the really short kids) and into a deeper part of the pool. Yahoo! He was ready...albeit a little bit nervous, too. But those nerves were quickly erased when his best buddy Garrett ended up in the same group! Moms and 7 year-olds alike both breathed a collective sigh of relief.

(Yes, their "teacher" really may have been about 10. We're not sure. Ha!)

And Molly? She, thankfully, was a happy little girl in the water.

Sportin' the goggles...

At the end of Week 1. So proud!

Week 2 proved to be AWESOME for Grayson and a bit challenging for Molly. She decided that week to be terrified of "boy teachers". So you can imagine her anxiety leading up to the first day, not knowing if she would have a "boy teacher" or a "girl teacher". Thankfully it turned out okay. Her teacher was a girl. But boy oh boy, we are ready for this phase to pass! Now "we" are wary of Sunday school teachers, dance teachers, and preschool teachers. And unless "we" move out of this stage soon, kindergarten could be a nightmare! Because you got it...the most likely teacher for next year? HE is a boy. Wish us luck!!!

Making sure to smile for the camera. Good girl!

While M became terrified of "boy teachers" that week, Grayson became an honest to goodness SWIMMER! Like on his own without a life jacket or someone holding onto him!

The next few pictures show something A-MA-ZING! G and G's teacher thought they were ready to swim the ENTIRE length of the pool ALL. BY. THEMSELVES! My G thought otherwise. He was N-E-R-V-O-U-S! (A mother knows these things just by looking.)
But?

(As a side note, keep in mind that when Grayson has to come up for air, it's not like he can touch the bottom of the pool and take a break. He's too short!)

They did it!!! We were SO proud of them!

Yay for swim lessons!
